Hundreds of Black Masking Indians representing various Indian nations will be parading in their 2023 suits at the 11 th Annual Circle of Chiefs Indian Cha Wa Downtown Super Sunday, April 2. The theme of this year’s event is “Kids of the Nation.” Also featured will be the P-Town Steppers and the Lady P-Town Steppers. Other guest performers include the Original Black Seminole Baby Dolls and the Big 6 Brass
Band.

“We are excited to host our annual parade and honor the children who represent the future of our indigenous cultural tradition. If you are a supporter or admirer of the Mardi Gras Indian culture, join us this Sunday,” said Big Chief Otto DeJean of the Hard Head Hunters.

The procession begins at 1 p.m. at Orleans Avenue and Moss Street on Bayou St. John. It will continue down Orleans Avenue to North Broad and then follow along N. Broad to St. Bernard Avenue where marchers will turn right and proceed to North Dorgenois Street and Hardin Playground. Food trucks will be providing refreshments.

Sponsors include the Circle of Chiefs, the Preservation Hall Foundation, and the New Orleans Black Mardi Gras Indian Cooperative.
