New Orleans Band The Crooked Vines Releases Their Album “Mostly Alive” on February 12

The Crooked Vines, a rock-pop collective of funk-fueled jams, will be releasing their semi-live third album, “Mostly Alive” on February 12.

Fusing their uniquely funky sound with their infectiously energetic stage presence, The Crooked Vines has made a name for themselves performing at New Orleans festivals and famous venues like Tipitina’s, The Howlin’ Wolf, House of Blues, and Gasa Gasa.

Of course, the band hasn’t been able to perform live due to the pandemic. The band’s keyboardist Steven Schwartz explained that when the pandemic arrived “it did put a pause on some group activity but the funny thing was I had been hoping to work on a project for the band for a long time, so I made our third album.”

The semi-live hybrid album includes compelling iterations of the band’s original songs from the past five years. The “twist” on these songs, which makes it a hybrid album, is that they include overdubs and editing augmentations in the vein of Frank Zappa which will turn them into entirely new performances while maintaining the electric undercurrent of a live show.

With a shift in band members they’ve dubbed the album “a fitting cap to an era of the band that also reveals a small taste of what’s to come.”
