BATON ROUGE, LA— Today, Lynda Woolard is announcing support from Governor John Bel Edwards for her campaign as First Vice Chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party.
In a statement released by his team, the Governor commends Lynda for her work and respect among Louisiana Democrats: “Since I first ran for Governor, Lynda Woolard has been a close friend and strong supporter. When I ran for re-election last year, Lynda was one of my first hires. She has earned the respect of so many Louisiana Democrats, and so many of our successes over the last four years are because of her efforts.”
Lynda and her campaign are both humbled and excited about Governor Edwards’ endorsement.
Lynda responded, “This is a particularly poignant moment for me to announce the support of Governor John Bel Edwards for my campaign. As a pandemic persists in our country and two storms target our state, there is no one I’d rather have at the helm than Governor Edwards. His strong, steady leadership and big heart for the people of Louisiana are exactly the reason that, for the last 7 years, getting him and keeping him in office have been top priorities for me. It would be my honor to continue to partner with him in this role as First Vice Chair, because I know that a stronger, more successful state Democratic party is needed to lift up the values of Louisiana’s families and protect our most vulnerable communities. May everyone stay safe during this perilous week.”
Lynda has been reaching out to members of the Democratic State Central Committee to discuss each individual’s concerns and ideas for the future of the Louisiana Democratic Party. Lynda is committed to maintaining an open line of communication with leadership on the state and local levels in every region to implement a strategic plan to share the party’s message and elect more Democrats.
Lynda has worked on numerous statewide campaigns as an organizer and strategist. She has also volunteered countless hours conducting trainings, presentations, canvasses and phone banks. Her love for the State of Louisiana continues to motivate her to promote the values of the party that puts people first, to reach out to a wider range of voters, and to work to win more elections. She is running for First Vice Chair, because she knows that her experience can help the Louisiana Democratic Party achieve these goals.
