Person Carrying AR-15 Arrested Near Pride Parade Route

The New Orleans Police Department has arrested a person who was carrying what appeared to be an AR-15 and a handgun near the Pride Parade route on Saturday.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, Cody Jackson, 25, was arrested at the corner of Royal and Barracks Street around 7 p.m. on Saturday. In Lousiana, it is illegal to carry a firearm within 1,000 feet of a parade route.

According to several commenters on Facebook, Jackson frequently open carries in that area.

No one was shot or injured, and the NOPD states that there were no threats of a shooting made.

This is a breaking news story and may be updated.
