Legendary New Orleans Musician Dr. John Has Passed Away

Another legendary local has died.

As reported by WWLTV’s Eric Paulsen on Twitter, Mac Rebennack AKA Dr. John, blues musician and New Orleans torch-bearer, passed away this morning at the age of 77 of a heart attack, his family has stated:

“As a Rock N Roll Hall of Fame inductee, six-time Grammy winner, songwriter, composer, producer, and performer, he created a unique blend of music which carried his home town, New Orleans, at its’ heart, as it was always in his heart.”

We at Big Easy Magazine express our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the city he loved. Feel free to share your memories of Dr. John’s iconic music and being with us in the comments and on social media.

What else can you do if you’ve already donated and can’t donate anymore? Share our content on Facebook and tell people about our fundraising operation. Call and email others who may be able to give.
