The Women of Dauphine Book Launch

Join us Thursday, August 15th at 6 pm for a reading and signing of Deb Jannerson’s The Women of Dauphine with special guests, Jessica Kinnison and Kia Alice Groom.

Cassie’s in love in 1990s New Orleans, but her religious community hates that her beloved is a girl… not to mention a ghost.

Deb Jannerson is the author of the YA novel The Women of Dauphine (NineStar Press, 2019) and the poetry collections Rabbit Rabbit (Finishing Line Press, 2016) and Thanks for Nothing (Finishing Line Press, 2018), available wherever books are sold. Jannerson won the 2017 So to Speak Nonfiction Award for a short memoir about queer intimacy and PTSD, the 2018 Flexible Persona Editors’ Prize for a piece of flash fiction about cutting off her finger, and a Two Sisters contest for a story about switching bodies with her cat. Other honors for which she has placed include the Pushcart Prize, The Writer’s Summer Flash Award, and the Pen2Paper Disability Writing Competition. More than one hundred of her pieces have been featured in anthologies and magazines, including viral articles for Bitch. She lives in New Orleans with her wife.

Jessica Kinnison’s work has appeared in Phoebe, Entropy, Juked, and The Southern Humanities Review, among other publications, and been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She served as a Kenyon Review Peter Taylor Fellow in 2018. A Mississippi native, she is co-founder of the New Orleans Writers Workshop and hosts the Dogfish Reading Series.

Kia Alice Groom is an Australian poet currently residing in the United States, where she earned an MFA in Poetry from the University of New Orleans in 2015. Kia’s work has appeared in Cordite, Bad Pony, The Australian Book Review, Westerly, Permafrost, Dream Pop Press and others, and has been anthologized in the Hunter Anthology of Contemporary Australian Feminist Poetry. She tweets @whodreamedit and works full-time as a psychic and intuitive healer. Her first book, “Lucid: a Micro-Memoir” is forthcoming from Porkbelly Press.
