Healthcare clowning uses humor and human connection to aid in healing patients, families, and staff members in hospitals and other such institutions. Prescription Joy currently provides this therapeutic approach to healing at Children’s Hospital and Ochsner’s Hospital for Children. Clean Squad: An Antiseptic Adventure, is the organization’s first original scripted work. This play will be brought to Children’s Hospital, Ochsner’s Hospital for Children, and the New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter free of charge. Public performances will be held at Trinity Episcopal School (1315 Jackson Ave) on July 19th (7pm) and 20th (2pm). Join an intrepid team of cleaning supplies: the savvy Spray Bottle (Zondra Howard), a grouchy but wizened Uncle Sponge(Philip Yiannopoulos) and the mighty Detergent (Leland Ensminger), as they battle against the Evil Germ (Helen Jaksch)! Will our heroes be able to stop the spread of the malevolent microbe? Will we ever be able to shake hands, bump fists, or High-Five again without risking doom and ‘germification’? Get ready for the squeaky-clean Antiseptic Adventures of the Clean Squad! Please contact Becca Chapman (bchapman@prescriptionjoy.org) with any questions regarding Prescription Joy. Prescription Joy’s mission is to promote healing through humor and play. Prescription Joy is a 501(c)(3) which accepts tax-deductible donations. Donations will be accepted at the event as well as online at www.prescriptionjoy.org
