What Can CBD Do For Your Skin?

Mountain Pure Bottles

CBD has become a popular solution for treating a variety of conditions ranging from chronic pain to epilepsy. But while you may have heard of CBD vaping or gummies, you may not realize CBD can be used topically to reduce inflammation and more.

Here’s what you need to know about using CBD oil to relieve skin conditions and improve your skin.

What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It’s one of more than 100 cannabinoids sourced from the cannabis plant. Another well-known cannabinoid is THC.

Cannabinoids can offer health benefits, and generally offer a calming, lubricating effect for your body and mind. But they don’t all have the same effects. For example, while CBD and THC are both cannabinoids, THC has a euphoric high effect, while CBD does not.

Sourcing cannabinoids can be different as well. Typically, CBD comes from industrial hemp and includes only trace amounts of THC. THC comes from marijuana plants and may have varying levels of CBD depending on the strain.

How CBD Works on Your Skin

One of the most powerful benefits of CBD in any use is its inflammatory properties, and that’s the key benefit in using CBD oil for skin. It’s known for helping to reduce pain and inflammation. CBD is also a potent antioxidant, so it can fight the signs of aging from free radicals.

An anti-inflammation and anti-aging tool, CBD is helpful for a variety of uses. It’s especially useful for inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, or even sensitive skin overall. You can use it to control both skin dryness and oil to achieve a better balance and can fight acne. CBD can be helpful for healing as well.

You can also find amino acids, essential fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and E in CBD. Overall, CBD can help with inflammation, and offer antioxidant support.

CBD Products

CBD can be applied topically using a variety of products. You can find lotions, skin creams, balms, salves, massage oils, and more, even bath bombs available on the market. With the range of products available today, you could practically replace your entire skincare and beauty routine with CBD products. They can range from general use to high-end options, and vary widely in their quality.

CBD skin products may offer quality ingredients independent of CBD. For example, CBD body butter that’s rich with emollients. But if you’re shopping for CBD skin products particularly for the CBD benefit, be sure to look closely at the products you consider before purchase.

As CBD is a beauty buzzword these days, it’s on the label of many products, but you should consider how much CBD is actually in a product, and the quality of the CBD as well. Compare the potency of products to determine how much CBD you’re actually buying in products. And look for products with CBD that’s independently tested for purity.

What You Need to Know About Using CBD

Should you rush out to replace all of your skin creams, lotions, and salves with CBD versions? Probably not. But if you’re looking for some extra support for inflammation or antioxidant properties, give it a try. If you like it, you can replace existing products with CBD ones as they run out. And keep in mind that CBD can be useful for more than just beauty. Applied topically, it can offer relief for pain, as well.
